Mr. Smythe is Chairman of Capitol National Bank, a 235 million Community Bank formed in 1982 which is now an affiliate of Capitol Bancorp Ltd., a bank holding company located in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Smythe is also President of Capitol Bancorp’s Great Lakes Region and is Chairman of Amera Mortgage Corporation, located in Milford Michigan. Mr. Smythe is a director of Sparrow Development, Inc., Lansing Community College Foundation, and the Michigan Retailers Association.
